Sunday at the Vatican

For our last day in Rome we went to Saint Peter's Basilica for mass and the pope's blessing. I'm not sure there are words to describe the size, grandeur and scale of Saint Peter's. It is massive, it is beautiful, it is a museum unto itself. I didn't take any pictures inside, but this is where the pope comes out to give his blessing to the masses standing below.Afterwards we zipped back on the metro to the Spanish Steps, where Italians and tourists alike gather to sit, chat, flirt, gawk and munch.We strolled back through the city, then scooted our way north to Florence. I loved the lemon trees lining the city streets.
